Acoustic Duo + Violin & Bass: Sydney's Acoustic Wedding Band

Acoustic Duo + Violin & Bass: four of us, still acoustic, and a sound big enough that guests at the back turn around. Two voices in harmony, a violin soaring above them, and a double bass holding the ground beneath it all.

What Makes This Option Different?

It's a real band, minus the drums, and our fullest acoustic sound. Each of us adds a layer:

  • Two singers, so your chorus arrives in harmony.
  • Acoustic guitar, keeping the whole thing warm and moving.
  • Violin, for the solos and the moments between the verses.
  • Double bass, the low note you feel in your chest, and the reason four of us sound like a band.

The result is the warmth of strings with the songs of a modern band. "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran sounds lush. "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen gets the harmonies it deserves. It suits medium and larger weddings, and bigger spaces where a duo might feel small.

What Does It Play During the Ceremony?

Four of us are playing as guests arrive, and it sounds like an occasion from the first guest in. Then we perform your entrance, the signing of the register and your walk back up the aisle together.

Each moment can be sung by one voice, sung as a duet, or played as an instrumental on violin. You choose, and every song is played the way you've always heard it in your head.

How Much Does an Acoustic Wedding Band Cost?

Our biggest acoustic sound, and a ceremony that feels full from the first harmony to the last note.

The Acoustic Duo + Violin & Bass starts from $1,600 in Sydney. All prices include GST.

Can It Play Cocktails and Dinner?

Yes. This is where the four of us shine through drinks, canapés and dinner. It's relaxed enough for conversation and full enough to fill a large room or a long courtyard.

Want dancing after dinner? Many couples book this band for the ceremony, then a dance band for the reception. We play you down the aisle, then we're the ones getting your guests dancing that night. The Five-Piece Band also has two singers, so you keep that two-voice sound all night.

The Five-Piece Band starts from $4,690 for your five-hour reception.

Who Are the Musicians?

Start with the singers you love in the Package Builder, and we build the band around them with musicians we play weddings with every weekend. Your Band Manager confirms your singers are available.

All four of us are full-time and degree-qualified. Red Soda began as friends at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and some of us have performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Acoustic Duo + Violin & Bass: Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an acoustic wedding band cost?

The Acoustic Duo + Violin & Bass starts from $1,600 in Sydney. Travel within 30 km of Sydney is included. Ferries, accommodation and paid parking are added when needed, and your Band Manager tells you first. Ceremony plus reception gets the package discount automatically. All prices include GST.

Who is in the band?

Four musicians: two singers (one plays acoustic guitar), a violinist and a double bass player. The voices carry your songs, the violin soars through the solos and instrumental moments, and the double bass gives everything a floor to stand on.

Is it loud enough for a big wedding?

Yes. It's our fullest acoustic option and suits medium and larger weddings, with enough sound to fill a big room or a long courtyard. We bring our own sound system for the voices, so every word carries to the back row without it ever feeling loud.

Can it play a dance set?

Not really. It's built for ceremonies, drinks and dinner, where it sets the perfect vibe. For dancing, add a dance band or a DJ combo for the reception. The Five-Piece Band keeps two singers, so the voices your guests loved at the ceremony can carry them onto the dance floor.

How much space and power do you need?

Not much. We don't need a stage, and four of us standing with a guitar, a violin and a double bass fit beautifully into almost any room. We do need power nearby: a power point within 3 metres. Your Band Manager confirms the exact spot with your venue.

Can you play outdoors?

Yes. Violin and double bass can't play in rain or harsh Aussie sun, so give us a covered, shaded spot and a wet-weather backup. Four acoustic musicians under a tree is one of our favourite ways to play a ceremony. The bass gives the sound a floor even on an open lawn, and the voices go through our own sound system, so we need a power point within 3 metres.

Can you play in a church?

Yes. Violin and double bass were born in rooms like this, and the harmonies ring right up into the roof. Four of us play as your guests arrive, so it sounds like an occasion from the first guest in, then your entrance and your walk back out together. Hymns work beautifully, and so does "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, with two voices in harmony and the bass underneath.
