Why Corporate Event Music in Toronto Matters
Toronto's corporate events are diverse. From tech launches to charity fundraisers, each has its own vibe. Music influences:
- Guest energy levels
- Networking engagement
- Brand perception
- Overall event memorability
A poorly chosen track can kill the mood; the right one keeps people talking about your event long after it ends.
Communicate Your Event’s Theme with the Band or DJ
Red Soda Band performs across Toronto—from downtown boardrooms to large-scale venues like the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. But no two corporate gigs are the same.
When hiring live music or a DJ, always communicate:
- The purpose of the event (networking vs. celebration)
- The venue layout (small room or open-air patio?)
- The desired energy level (chilled, sophisticated, or full party mode?)
Event Type & Suggested Music Setup
| Event Type | Suggested Music Setup |
|---|---|
| Networking Cocktail Hour | Jazz trio, acoustic guitar, harp |
| Awards Night | Live band with MC & speaker cues |
| Holiday Party | DJ + band combo for maximum fun |
| Conference or Product Launch | Ambient background music |
Let Your Event Goals Guide the Playlist
Music supports your event’s purpose—not the other way around.
- For celebrations: Include high-energy, well-known songs to get people dancing.
- For networking: Keep music light and low to encourage conversation.
- For presentations: Plan smooth transitions with ambient music or walk-up tracks.
Use Walk-Up Songs for Your Guest Speakers
Toronto events often feature keynote speakers or panelists. Boost professionalism and energy by assigning walk-up songs.
Ask speakers if they have a preferred track. If not, choose one based on:
- Their personality
- Industry relevance
- Event tone (lighthearted, serious, or innovative)
It sets the mood and builds anticipation before they speak.
Accept Song Requests—but Vet Them Carefully
Asking your team for music ideas is great—but don’t add blindly. Songs that once seemed harmless can carry inappropriate lyrics or cultural sensitivities.
Example:
- “Afternoon Delight” sounds fun—but its lyrics are better suited for a private playlist.
- Songs by controversial artists may trigger backlash.
- Always Google lyrics or artist news before confirming requests.
Popular Corporate Event Songs That Work in Toronto

DJ or Live Band? What Works Best for Toronto Events
| Option | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Live Band | High impact, custom performances, local Toronto talent | Slightly more costly, limited setlists |
| DJ | Versatile, wide song selection, modern feel | Less personal, no live vocal energy |
| Combo | Red Soda’s specialty—best of both worlds with seamless transitions | Requires more space and coordination |
Final Checklist for Corporate Event Music Success
Before your event:
- Confirm event tone, guest demographics, and venue acoustics
- Share your run sheet with the band or DJ
- Vet song lyrics and artist reputations
- Build energy slowly—don’t peak too early
