Ceremony Music

The prelude carried on a breeze off the Sound. Your entrance, building with every step toward the person waiting for you. The cheer as you walk back up the aisle, married.

Our strings play from a library of almost 1,000 arrangements of today's biggest songs, written exclusively by us. You won't hear them played this way anywhere else.

VOCAL OPTIONS

Reception Music

The breeze off the Sound drops, the terrace lights come on, and the room goes quiet for your first dance. We play it live. Then the floor fills, and it doesn't empty until we stop playing.

LARGER BANDS

Ceremony and Reception Together

Most Connecticut couples book us for the ceremony as well as the reception. We play your ceremony and carry that feeling right through to the last song.

Down here, many of us play more than one role: your ceremony violinist might join the band later, or your acoustic singer might become your DJ. See our wedding music packages.

Why Connecticut Couples Choose Red Soda

Choose the singer you love, and your Band Manager confirms they're available. We're full-time, degree-qualified musicians from Berklee, New England Conservatory and Juilliard, and some of us have played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Between us, we've performed with Stevie Wonder, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Michael Bublé, Daft Punk, Lionel Richie and Paul McCartney (The Beatles). And we've never missed a wedding we were booked for.

COUPLES SAY EVERY GUEST TOLD THEM HOW AMAZING THE MUSIC WAS

  • “Music was so important to us, and every guest complimented us on how amazing the music was, from before the ceremony until the night's end. We could not be happier with the way you created a 'soundtrack' for our day.”

What to Know About Wedding Music in Connecticut

  1. Book early. Saturdays and fall foliage weekends, especially in the Litchfield Hills, are always snapped up first.
We're often booked up to 12 months ahead.

  2. Plan for the weather. Our instruments can't play in rain, cold or storms, and breezes off the Sound can be strong. Plan cover and a backup.

  3. Tents are common on the shoreline and in the hills. Bands and DJs need power within 10 feet of where we set up.

About Connecticut

Connecticut is the southernmost New England state, between Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. Its shoreline runs along Long Island Sound, with Greenwich in the west and Mystic and Stonington in the east. Inland lie Hartford, the state capital, and the rolling Litchfield Hills.

Connecticut Wedding Music: Frequently Asked Questions

Does Red Soda travel to Connecticut?

Yes. We play weddings right across Connecticut, including Mystic, the shoreline, New Haven, Hartford, Fairfield County and the Litchfield Hills. Mystic is about 1.5 to 2 hours from Boston, Hartford about 2 and Greenwich about 3.5. For Fairfield County we usually need accommodations, and your Band Manager includes them in your quote.

How much does a wedding band cost in Connecticut?

Ceremony music for Connecticut venues starts from $710, and reception music from $2,310. Travel to your venue is included. Book both together and a package discount applies. The price you see in the Package Builder is the price you pay.

How far in advance should we book wedding music in Connecticut?

As soon as your venue is confirmed. We're often booked up to 12 months ahead, and June to October fills fastest. Saturdays and fall foliage weekends are always snapped up first. Fairfield County weddings usually need accommodations for us, which takes a little more organizing, so the earlier we have your date, the better. And that goes double for a foliage weekend in the Litchfield Hills.

What ceremony music works best for a waterfront ceremony?

It depends on your guest numbers. A Violin + Cello Duo suits up to about 50 guests, a String Trio about 80, and a String Quartet around 100. For vocals, we bring our own sound system. We need cover and a backup in case of rain.

Can Red Soda play a church ceremony in Connecticut?

Yes. Strings, harp or an Acoustic Singer all carry beautifully to the back pew. It's worth asking your church about its music rules early. Hymns, candle lighting and Communion are all covered, and we take our cues from your officiant, so nothing arrives early or late. From the prelude to the cheer as you walk back out, married, the music follows the service.

Can one band cover our ceremony and reception?

Yes. One booking can cover your ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance floor. Many of us play more than one role, and booking your ceremony and reception together gets a package discount automatically. We play your aisle song with the Sound behind you, carry the mood through cocktail hour on the terrace, then fill the floor. Your Band Manager plans the timings, so the day flows without a handover.

Can you play a reception in a tent?

Yes. Tented receptions are very common in Connecticut, and we bring our own sound system. We need power within 10 feet of where we set up, and a flat, covered spot to play. On the shoreline, breezes off the Sound can be strong, and evenings in the hills cool off fast, so strings and harp need the same shelter as the band.

Can we choose our own songs?

Yes. Choose songs for your key moments and we'll play them live. Our strings play from almost 1,000 arrangements written exclusively by us, and new ones can be added with enough notice. A new String Quartet arrangement may involve a small music preparation fee.
